Interior care between details, including light leather

Ten minutes a week keeps most interiors in good shape. Light leather and soft materials need a gentler touch.

A ten-minute weekly routine

  1. Take out trash, bottles and anything that doesn't live in the car.
  2. Shake out or rinse the floor mats.
  3. Wipe the spots hands touch most: steering wheel, door pulls, shifter, cupholders and screens, with a damp microfiber and then a dry one.
  4. A quick vacuum of the seats and footwells if you have a handheld.

Light leather and synthetic leather

  • Wipe it regularly. Dirt and dye transfer from clothing are easier to lift when they are fresh.
  • Use a gentle cleaner made for automotive leather, never household cleaners with bleach or ammonia.
  • Test anything new on a hidden spot first. Aged, dyed, coated or repaired leather can change color or texture even with proper products.
  • Don't soak perforated seats, and blot spills instead of rubbing them in.

We clean leather as part of the Interior Detail. We don't sell leather conditioning as a separate service.

Alcantara, suede and wood

These materials don't like water or heavy rubbing. Brush lightly, wipe with a barely damp cloth, and let them dry naturally. Tell us about them before a detail so we can plan the right products.

Sun, heat and spills

  • A windshield sunshade keeps the dash and seats cooler on hot days.
  • Keep a small towel in the car for spills; blotting quickly prevents most stains from setting.
  • Leave a window cracked (if safe) after cleaning wet spots so the cabin can dry.

When a professional interior detail helps

When stains have set, crumbs have worked into seat rails, a smell keeps coming back, or the whole cabin just needs a reset. The Interior Detail covers seats, carpets, mats, dash, doors and inside glass. Heavy stains and pet hair are part of Elite Restoration, quoted per car.

Quick questions

Can you remove blue jeans dye from white seats?
Often a lot of it, especially if it is recent. Set-in dye transfer may not fully come out; we test and tell you what to expect.
